What can you expect from this kalimba?

The sound of our NIYA acoustic kalimba is incredibly clear, resonates excellently and therefore retains tone for a long time, even in the high tones. It lies comfortably in the hand and is very sturdy.

The sound has a soothing effect, and is therefore perfect if you want to relax or enjoy its beautiful tones with friends. The instrument is exclusively made of high-quality materials, which ensure that this kalimba lasts a lot longer compared to many kalimbas from other stores. This kalimba has in short everything you would expect from a high-end instrument .

This kalimba is made from rosewood on the sides, lacquered mahogany at the upper side. Because mahogany has a lower density, the sounds are sent slightly more strongly towards the top, instead of the sides. This ensures that the kalimba is ideal for relaxing, and dream away completely in an oasis of sound .

Clear and melodic: Because this kalimba is made of selected rosewood, it has a fantastic clear and rustic sound. This sound has a relaxing effect and is very pleasant to hear. The materials and construction style provide a balanced resonance, so that the tones remain pure for a long time. This resonance is an important part of the beautifully melodic sound that only a select few kalimbas can make.

The sixteen tones provide a wide range of possibilities. This way you can play much more than just simple melodies as you can on a 7 or 8 tone kalimba. Where does he come from?

This kalimba is produced in Italy, in a small workshop where two passionate craftsmen make new kalimbas for us every day. From receiving a simple block of wood and the harmonic steel they get to work until they end with a beautifully finished kalimba in their hands. They then send them to us!

About our kalimbas

Many kalimbas that you find in stores today, on Amazon and bol.com are mass produced in countries such as China and India. While there is nothing wrong with that, these production machines or employees are not always good at making premium kalimbas. It often happens that the highest tones do not resonate well, and that the quality deteriorates after a few months.

If you are an experienced kalimba player you may recognize that the highest notes can sometimes feel a little (or very) ‘stiff’. They are then difficult to play and sound dull.

We wanted to see this differently. That is why we started looking for a producer who can guarantee a high-quality potash of constant quality. Because we can prevent this problem.
